Why 6CCM?

6CCM was the callsign given to the Radio Research Society of Long Beach in 1922. The Radio Research Society of Long Beach was founded in the summer of 1922 by a group of local radio enthusiasts headed by Dean Bottoroff. It was reported in the Long Beach Telegram newspaper on July 9th 1922 that the society would meet on Thursday & Friday evenings at 26 Elm Avenue Long Beach which was also the home of the Prest & Dean Research Laboratory who were the first organization to establish the first broadcasting station from Long Beach KSS which was on the air from 1922-1924.
With the F.D.R.G located in the Long Beach region we wanted to remember the legacy of those pioneering societies and associations of the past.
